Svante Arrhenius

A Swedish chemist (1859-1927) who studied weak electrolytes and gave the first modern definition of the acids and the bases.

He also deduced the experimental relationship between the variation of the coefficient of the rate of a reaction with the temperature.

The Arrhenius equation gives the variation of the coefficient of the rate of a reaction " k " :

ln [k]  =  ln [A]  -  E/ RT

EA is the Arrhenius activation energy, A is the pre exponential factor, R is the Gas Constant, T is the temperature in degrees Kelvin.
