Brönsted Base
A Bronsted Base is a species which can accept a proton in the course of a reaction or exchange a proton with a Brönsted Acid.
Example:
NH3 + H+ => NH4+
Brönsted Acid
A Bronsted Acid is a species which is likely to yield a proton to another substance called a Brönsted Base .
The release of protons thus carried out corresponds to an acid-base reaction.
Example:
HCl + H2O => H3O+ + Cl-
Johannes, Nicolaus Brönsted
A Danish chemist (1879-1947) who defined acids and the bases in terms of species which exchange protons.
