Büchner funnel
A name given to a flat-bottomed porcelain funnel used for suction filtration. It is used in conjunction with a Büchner flask.
The bottom of the funnel comprises holes of variable diameter and is covered by a porous filter made out of paper or glass fibre.
Büchner flask
A Büchner flask is a thick walled conical flask equipped with a side arm outlet which is connected to a source of vacuum, usually a water pump. It is used for reduced pressure filtration.
