Calorimeter
Apparatus used to measure the heat exchanged by a system with its environment.
Bomb Calorimeter
An apparatus with a lid which can be sealed, which is manufactured from thick steel, and which is capable of withstanding very high pressures.
This apparatus is used for studying combustion reactions under constant volume conditions.
The heat measured by the calorimeter is equal to the chemical energy produced by burning samples inside it in an atmosphere of oxygen.
