Gauze
A metallic fabric placed on a tripod between the flame of the Bunsen burner and the container being heated.
The functions of the gauze are to evenly distribute the heat provided by the flame and to prevent carbon depositing on the glassware.
In electrogravimetrix analysis, the coaxial cylindrical electrodes are made of platinum gauze.
