Magnesium sulfate
A white crystalline solid with the formula MgSO4, which is commonly used as a desiccant in organic synthesis.
Its use as a desiccant is based on the fact that it is relatively inert.

It exists in a hydrated form with 7 molecules of water.
Note :
modern textbooks write "sulfate" but older ones write "sulphate".
