Nitrogen dioxide
At ambient temperature nitrogen dioxide is russet-red coloured gas with the formula NO2 which is in equilibrium with its dimer N2O4.
It is formed easily formed by the reduction of nitric acid and occurs as a common pollutant arising from the exhausts of car engines.
