Phenanthroline
Orthophenanthroline (abbreviated to phenanthroline; denoted by o-phen) is a molecule which serves as a ligand to bind to metal ions.
It binds specifically to Fe2+ ions to give the stable red coloured complex [Fe(o-phen)3]2+ used for the qualitative and quantitative determination of Fe2+ ions.
